Venus is the second planet from the sun and is almost the same size as our planet Earth. A year on Venus is 224.7 Earth days. Venus has very thick clouds which prevent direct sunlight from reaching its surface. These clouds are made of sulfuric acid. Venus has an atmosphere composed mainly of carbon dioxide The surface temperature of Venus is about 900 degrees F. Venus has the hottest average temperature of all the planets.

Venus is the slowest spinning planet and takes 243 times longer than Earth to spin around one time. Venus is one of the brightest objects in the sky, and is clearly visible to the naked eye. Venus was named after the Roman goddess of love. Venus is sometimes called the Earth's sister planet because it is similar in size and composition. Venus has more volcanoes than any other planet in the solar system.
